Abstract

Aquaculture is a commercial activity with great increasement in Brazil, not only because of biodiversity but also due to infrastructure and variety of aquatic ecosystems available for its explotation and development. Among negative impacts in aquaculture, there are organic wastes with high loads of total solids, turbidity and nutrients, which must be treated. The present study aims to assess the efficiency of natural treatment systems - like constructed wetlands - for fish farm effluents, which can be used by producers for environment monitoring in order to obtain certification. The adjustment of physico-chemical parameters and toxicological tests of different trophic levels of aquatic organisms will be employed for the insecticide diflubenzuron: the alga Pseudokirchneriella subcapitata, the microcrustacean Daphnia similis and the insect larvae of the genus Chironomus.
