Abstract

Statistical models that use more effectively the proposed causal model may help in understanding and assessment of risk factors for binary events such as death / non-death.This study aims to understand the role of socioeconomic status (SES), non-acceptance of pregnancy (nAoP) and prenatal care on fetal mortality and to compare risk factors for outcomes in fetal death and early neonatal death in the southern region of São Paulo.Latent variables will be constructed to represent the socioeconomic status and non-acceptance of pregnancy, from a case-control on fetal mortality. Models will be tested for the outcome of early neonatal death with latent variables, the prenatal care, complications (hypertension, gestational diabetes, vaginal bleeding) and delayed intrauterine growth retardation (IUGR) by means of structural equation modeling (SEM). It is expected to measure the effect of negative acceptance of pregnancy and unfavorable socioeconomic situation, the role of prenatal care and identify the most socially vulnerable mothers. (AU)
