Abstract

The aim of this study is to evaluate the genetic, environmental and behavioral factors in temporomandibular disorders. The participants will be allocated into experimental or control group. The experimental group will be comprised of 150 subjects with temporomandibular disorder, since the control group of 150 healthy subjects without signs or symptoms of TMD. Patients will be allocated through a questionnaire and physical examination, which will assess the presence of disease and environmental / behavioral characteristics. Finally, biological material (saliva) will be collected for analysis of single nucleotide polymorphisms in candidate genes, possibly related to temporomandibular disorders. Data analysis will be done by the statistical test of multiple linear regression, with the critical level set at 5% (p <0.05). (AU)
