Abstract

The predatory utilization of the natural resources is cause of significant part of the environmental and social-economic problems that the planet faces nowadays, including water scarcity, the expressive loss of the planet biodiversity, the erosion and depletion of agricultural soils which, in extreme situations, result in processes of desertification. Even though not mature enough to the point of changing its attitudes, there is, from great part of the society, awareness concerning the need of preserving the environment and assuring the utilization of its resources. It is essential to the School to educate its students in a way they may present a fair behavior in their principles related to the preservation of the environment. The present project aims to promote mechanisms of action, pointing to the students, dealing with problems caused by the improper use of the water and providing interaction among the disciplines studied in the School for strategic discussions which have in view the knowledge and the reduction of the environmental impact. As a final result, the development of the project will allow the study of the environmental issue concerning the pollution and the rational utilization of the waters of the Paraíba do Sul river, seeking, together, feasible solutions, through the School, students and the local society.
