This proposal is aimed at the acquisition of two concert pianos for the Music Department of the USP School of Communication and Arts. These two instruments will be employed in various activities of research and artistic creation in the Department and will meet the needs of a significant number of researchers and musicians. The two pianos requested will be allocated to the Music Department of the USP School of Communication and Arts. One of the pianos will reside in the studio of the Laboratory of Musical Acoustics and Information Science (Lami, as the acronym in Portuguese) and will be primarily employed in recording sessions and in research projects that involve electroacoustic and instrumental composition. The second will be placed in the auditorium of the Department and will be employed for performances and as a research aid in the area of interpretive practices. At times (when there is a need to perform pieces written specifically for two pianos), both pianos will be placed in the auditorium. There is a soundproof door that connects the Lami studio and the auditorium stage, which will facilitate this operation. (AU)
