Abstract

It's very important for doctors to know the advance directives of terminal patient with low capacity, before decision-making. However, in Brazil, it's not current practice patients to have advance directives of will. This is a document written by capable person, who aims to make dispositions about medical treatments, before they are recommended. Objective: This study aims to investigate the ovarian cancer women's perception about the possibility of registering advance directives of will. Methods: Qualitative study, case study research. The research will be carried out at Department of Pathology and Forensic Medicine, Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo. Data will be collected through depth interview, semistructured and recorded, involving patients with ovarian cancer. The initial analysis will be done in the same time of category identification. A thematic analysis will be used to evaluate subjects' speech and identify discussion categories. At least, data collected will be articulated among them, through a theoretical reference. The project will be submitted to the Research Ethics Committee of the University Hospital, Faculty of Medicine of Ribeirão Preto, University of São Paulo, in accordance with Resolution No 196/96 by the National Health Council.
