Abstract

With the progression of cancer, the focus of treatment changes from curative to palliative; in cases of gynecologic tumors or advanced breast cancer (TGBA), the active anticancer treatment is palliative. The transition between the end of anticancer treatment (active phase of treatment) to an essentially palliative care (palliative care [CP] exclusive) must ensure the quality of life (QOL). Understanding the coping strategies of these patients throughout the course of the disease allows a closer relationship with health professionals, supporting its role in the development of more positive coping strategies and efficient. Thus, this study aims to assess the coping strategies used by patients with TGBA during the transition in the model of treatment. Women diagnosed with TGBA will be followed prospectively, with two assessments of the indices of anxiety, depression, QOL and coping strategies. The instruments will be used are EMEP, HADS, EORT-QLQ-C30, a data collection protocol, the clinical performance scale (KPS)and four open-ended questions addressing the patient's perceptions about communicating the end of the antineoplastic treatment performed by medical oncologist. The data collected will be analyzed qualitatively and quantitatively. (AU)
