Abstract

The aims of this paper is to analyze the process of bone healing and osseointegration of implants placed in beds prepared by conventional burs (C), piezoelectric device (P) and Er, Cr: YSGG laser (L). For this purpose, two separate studies will be conducted. In Study 1, 144 mice will be divided into three groups (C, P, L) with 48 animals each. The animals will be anesthetized and both tibia will be surgically exposed will to create a surgical alveolus of 2 mm in diameter at the metaphysis of both tibiae. Then a machined implant will be inserted in each socket created. Eight animals in each group will be sacrificed at zero, 3, 7, 15, 30 and 60 days postoperatively. After sacrifice, the implant of the right tibia will be used for analysis of subtraction radiography and, subsequently, analysis of removal torque. The left tibia implant will be used to laboratory processing non-decalcified histological sections for histometric analysis. In Study 2, 144 rats will be divided into three groups with 48 animals each (C, P and L) in the same way as in the previous study. A 2mm in diameter defect will be done in each right tibia metaphysis according to each group. After sacrifice, for the same periods of study 1, the specimens will be reduced and subjected to laboratory processing for histological, histometric and immunohistochemistry analysis. The obtained values will be submitted to statistical analysis (p=0,05) The results obtained in both studies will be used comparatively to understand the process of bone formation around the implants.
