Effectivess of nanocrystalline silver dressing on burns: randomized clinical study applied in hospitalized patients

Abstract

It is an exploratory and prospective study, carried out with patients with Burns. The protocol for treatment of wounds provoked by burns can be different from a hospital to another. Aspects that indicate the severity of the wound as, for example, the location, depth, extensions, presence or absence of infection, the causal agent of the trauma, nutritional status of patients, the presence of degenerative chronic diseases and age affect the healing process and will influence the choice of treatment of the wound. The research will be developed in the Irmandade of Santa Casa de Misericórdia in a Burn Treatment Unit in partnership with Uniararas and the study sample shall consist of 80 patients with second-and-third-degree burns treatment. The importance of the study permeates with the challenge, mainly regarding the access to multiple procedures of treatments, because it is noticeable that health professionals involved with the treatment have consistently been following the advances in this area, expanding new concepts and alternative methods to technologies and elaborating standards and increasingly enhanced routines. The study aims to assess the effectiveness of nanocrystalline silver base dressing in burns with clinical signs of infection in the healing process and identify the main microorganisms involved, describe the favorable evolution of local therapeutic aiming from obtained to develop results, a treatment protocol and contribute to increase the number of titles on the topic, once this area has a shortage of essays.
