Abstract

The book summarizes the state-of-the-art of our knowledge on Neotropical deer. The current information. Its chapters cover the general biology of each species (including new recently described species); evolution, genetics, morphology; population management; field and capture techniques tried and employed with the species; diseases; and management of captive populations, all in the context of current conservation situation in the Latin-American region. Each chapter is written by one or more experts in the Neotropics and was reviewed by recognized international scientist in deer biology, physiology, and ecology and wildlife management. The book is written in English to reach a wider audience and will be included all the Neotropical deer species as if the new ones described in the last decade. (AU)
