Abstract

The skeletal facial deformities can be characterized by hypo-or hyper-development of facial bones, especially the maxilla and mandible, and orthognathic surgery is to correct them. The correct trans-opretatório condylar position is very important to achieve better and stable and for this, one can use the surgical manipulation of the proximal fragment or the use of assistive devices. The aim of this study is to verify that the change occurs condylar position in patients with artificial skulls relation maxillomandibular class II underwent bilateral sagittal split osteotomy of the mandible, when the transfer method of cephalometric data is used. For this we use 10 artificial skulls developed in rigid polyurethane with load barrio, jaw relationship in Class II and insertion of the muscles of mastication. The same markers also present on the ends radiodense medial, lateral, anterior, posterior and in the center of the glenoid cavity, and markers at the poles radiodense medial, lateral, anterior, posterior and central articular surface of the mandibular condyle and will be submitted to computed tomography digital volume prior to mandibular advancement procedure, which will be accomplished through bilateral sagittal split osteotomy of the mandible and the transfer method of cephalometric data. For the verification of condylar position in both groups, we will measure the distances between the markers installed radiodense glenoid cavity and the mandibular condyle in the axial and coronal reformation through the tool DISTANCE. The data obtained are then tabulated and analyzed statistically using the paired t test. (AU)
