Abstract

This proposal involves research groups in the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering departments of UNESP Ilha Solteira, and the Dynamics Research Group in the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research, University of Southampton. The research primarily envolves exchange of knowledge between these three groups who are working on funded projects related to high frequency structural wave motion. The groups in UNESP are working on structural health monitoring (SHM) of light-weight structures and the group in Southampton is working on the use of high frequency waves for de-icing aircraft structures and also SHM. The proposal is for funding of an academic exchange between the UNESP and Southampton teams to share knowledge, culminating in a workshop in May 2012 to explore the submission of a joint international project possibly funded by EPSRC/UNESP.
