Abstract

The concept of virtual water export has consolidated an important element of analysis linked to exports of agricultural products, generating ideas about countries carry plenty of water (water self-sufficiency) and countries with water scarcity (water scarcity ). This general perspective of the countries do not recognize regional particularities and complexity of certain areas morphoclimatic Brazil, considering that Brazil brings together a group water self-sufficiency. This project integrates research line Commodities and Water: Elements of a new geopolitical and objectively analyze the processes of virtual and physical export of water from commodity exports in particular Brazilian exports of orange juice, fresh and frozen concentrated orange equivalent (FCOJ) and exports of sugar and ethanol produced in the state of Sao Paulo and its effects on hydro-schemes, considering their characteristics and procedures for use and occupation of land in different localities (Limeira, Barretos and Ourinhos - orange - Ribeirão Preto, Jau and Andradina for ethanol), which represent the traditional areas and expansion of the sectors examined).
