Abstract

The endothelium dysfunction is related to the development of diastolic dysfunction in adults and has close relation to the symptoms severity, exercise intolerance, hospitalizations due to the decompensation of the illness, cardiac transplant and death. There is no report on endothelium function in children with idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy, as there is in adults. And despite causes and mechanisms are different, pharmacologic treatment and ergoespirometric data are similar when compared pediatric to adults. Objetive: Evaluate the endothelium function in healthy children and the ones with idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy and compare it to what is found in the ergoespirometric test. Methodology: Selected from the Pediatric Ambulatory - Incor, 30 children of both gender who suffer from idiopathic dilated cardiomyopathy under pharmacologic therapy, and from 5 to 19 years-old, will have their endothelium function, ergoespirometric data and self-description of functional class analyzed. Their data will be compared to those from the control group. (AU)
