Abstract

The three-dimensional ultrasonography, especially in the area of Obstetrics, had a major technological breakthrough in the last 10 years. The development of new software enabled the development of research, making it essential in large tertiary care centers in the world. In addition, other medical fields as radiology and gynecology may benefit from this new technology. Methods: Installation of a Laboratory for Advanced Research in Three-dimensional Ultrasound to be deployed in the Department of Obstetrics, Federal University of São Paulo (UNIFESP), but also meet researchers from other fields, especially those from the Departments of Gynecology and Diagnostic Imaging. For this deployment, it is planned to develop 12 theses, 7 Masters, PhD 3 and 2 postdoctoral fellows, being 11 in the area of Obstetrics and one in the Gynecology area. The physical installation as well as the entire structure of human and material resources will be provided by provided by the University, except the three-dimensional ultrasound device. Objective: Acquisition of a three-dimensional ultrasound device Voluson E8 machine (General Electric Medical Systems, Kretz, Zipf, Austria), equipped with all three-dimensional volumetric transducers, as well as the latest software, able to carry out original research in our country with conditions to be published in international journals ISI/Medline high impact.
