Abstract

Genetic factors that influence the onset of early puberty are not fully known yet. Thus, further studies are necessary to clarify those factors. This project, conducted by the Division of Child and Adolescent at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Sao Paulo, will enroll 100 patients divided into two groups: Group 1 - comprised of 50 girls diagnosed with central precocious puberty, Group 2 - consisted of 50 girls without precocious puberty, but accompanied in the same sector by other diagnoses. The presence of genetic mutations in estrogen metabolism related genes (CYP1A1, CYP1B1 and CYP17) will be assessed by RFLP (Restriction Fragment Length Polymorphism) method from DNA blood samples. At the end of the experiment, the data will be analyzed by the method of Fisher. (AU)
