Abstract

Astrocytes become reactive after lesion of the nervous system after trauma or during pathological states. Since such reactivity may be harmful to the neural tissue, the present work aims to regulate GFAP and MHC I expression in order to modulate the astroglial response. For this purpose, RNA interference will be used in astrocyte and neuronal cell co-cultures. The results will be analyzed by immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR. Transmission electron microscopy will also be applied. (AU)
