Abstract

This project aims to standardize the clinical examination of horses with joint diseases of the fetlock and tarsal region along the following parameters: medical history, physical examination and radiographic, ultrasonographic and arthroscopic evaluation of the horsesreferenced to the of Veterinary Hospital, Large Animal Surgery Session, FMVZ-USP. Changes found in each of the parameters will be graduated to determine a score for the animal. The treatment of choice for the condition will be performed and the result related to the score achieved, stabilishing the correlation between scores and clinical results. Determination of prognostic index for each score interval, will be obtained according to the owner satisfaction classifing as: total satisfaction, partial satisfaction and no satisfaction. In addition front and hind limbs of horses died in the Session, with or without lameness history, will be used for techniques training and anatomical dissection for lesions evaluation, photographic documentation and further comparison with the technique findings. Clinical cases data will be obtained through anamnesis and physical, radiographic, ultrasonographic and arthroscopic examinations. Each parameter will be assessed a corresponding score table and the addition of the values will be the score of the animal. The data will be analyzed by applying the Kruskal-Wallis and the significant values will be tested using logistic regression. (AU)
