Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is 25-OHD3 (25-hidroxi-colecalciferol) about problems in broiler locomotor

Abstract

There will be a trial, in order to assess the movement of broilers, it will be evaluated for the characteristics of the incidence of femoral degeneration (SCD), tibial dyschondroplasia (TD), gait score (GS), deviations from joint (valgus and varus), evaluation of footpad lesions, bone mineral density (BMD), bone strength, dry defatted Index Seedor, mineral composition, bone ash and bird performance. Will be housed in the experimental shed FMVZ-UNESP/Botucatu 750 broilers from Cobb ®, with a population density of 12 birds/m2 for 42 days. The experimental design is completely randomized with five treatments and five replicates of 30 birds, totaling 25 plots. Treatments will consist of two sources of vitamin D (vitamin D3 and 25-OHD3). The control treatment (T1) will follow the recommendations of Rostagno et al. (2011) for vitamin D3, according to each design phase to broilers (pre-initial, initial growth and final). From the values recommended treatments 2 and 3 will consist of a combination of two sources of Vitamin D (Vitamin D3 and 25-OHD3) and treatments 4 and 5 will provide the sum of the combination of the two sources but will only Vitamin D3 . At 42 days, 100 birds of each treatment will be evaluated by GS in the aviary, and varus and valgus incidence of callus in footpad. Of these birds, 60 birds in each treatment will be weighed, euthanized by eletronarcose and cut the veins and the carotid artery. Will later head of the femur and the proximal epiphysis of the right and left tibias analyzed macroscopically to assess the injury score for DF and DT. For histological evaluation, will be used, five birds from each DF score and paw callus per treatment, which will have their femurs collected and then be carried out assessments of BMD Index Seedor, bone strength, dry defatted bone and mineral composition bone ash. Thus, we intend to evaluate the effect of vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) and 25-hydroxy-cholecalciferol (25-OHD3) on the occurrence of locomotor problems in broilers. (AU)
