Abstract

The muscles of the pelvic floor (perineal) like other muscle groups of the human body can be exercised by providing increased muscular strength, hypertrophy of fibers, improves awareness of cortical muscle groups, strengthening theconnective tissue and active recruitment of motor neurons. Objective: To determine whether training of the pelvic floor muscles may influence sexual function in premenopausal women. Subjects and methods: Clinical trial with evaluation before and after, which will be invited to the 58 premenopausal women without disease/dysfunction urogynecologic or sexual. Will be performed body awareness exercises and eight training sessions of the perineal muscles in group. Will be guided exercises to be done daily at home. The volunteers will be assisted by the responsible physiotherapist in the Section of Physical Therapy in Center of Integral Attention to Women's Health, State University of Campinas. Will be assessed the myoelectric activation of the pelvic floor muscles by surface electromyography, the strength of the pelvic floor muscles by the Modified Oxford Scale and female sexual function will be measured by the Female Sexual Function Index questionnaire - FSFI. The final evaluation will adopt the same procedures as the baseline for comparison of the parameters. For collecting, recording and storage of data and preliminary statistical analysis will use the specific software system developed by MIOTOOL 400 Miotec Equipamentos Biomédicos Ltda. The evaluation forms and the questionnaire of the Index of Female Sexual Function be transferred to a computer program, where data will be analyzed statistically by Paired Student t Test.
