Abstract

Despite the growing number of spaces to get a better physical conditioning and constant access to information about the importance of physical activity for health, several people who start exercise programs quit it shortly after. In this context, the lack of compliance and adherence to exercise programs has been decreasing the level of physical fitness of the population. Motivation is a dynamic character with a common link between biological and psychosocial aspects, facilitating or preventing the practice of physical exercises. Thus the objective of this study is to investigate the psychobiological factors that facilitate or prevent compliance and adherence to an exercise program. The proposed sample consists of sixty volunteers of both sexes, aged 18 years, without current or prior history of cardiovascular or respiratory problems that are not performing regular exercise in the last six months and have no history of abuse of drugs or alcohol and psychiatric or neurological diseases. Volunteers will be divided into two groups (unsupervised and supervised group) to carry out their program of exercise three times a week for a period not exceeding 90 minutes per day. Subjects will undergo a rigorous pre - training evaluation that will be repeated every three months for the full 9-month training. Evaluations will consist of the following tests: ergospirometry, maximum repetition test, anthropometric tests, psychological and cognitive tests. Will be considered dropouts when the volunteer did not attend the laboratory to perform your exercise routine for two weeks or have a failure rate equal to 25% of the total exercise sessions. (AU)
