Abstract

In this research work is planned to evaluate the impact of using wastewater for irrigation in interesting medicinal species (Ocimum basilicum) as well as developing the application of different cultural practices to mitigate the effects from the use of these waters. Will be determined the level of salt tolerance by identifying the mechanisms adopted by plants as a result of osmotic effect and / or saline stress and also the sensitivity to potentially toxic elements, normally present in wastewater. To study the physiological and biochemical effects of reuse waters, will be used for different irrigation management in relation to salt concentration. All these studies are focused to obtain good quality plants and favoring its adaptation to adverse environmental conditions, without damage to crop production. (AU)
