In this project it will be studied a system composed by anaerobic reactors associated to a sand filter for treating wastewater generated by a small company in Campinas city (São Paulo state). The company, named Villa Stone Comércio e Indústria de Materiais Básicos para Construção Limitada, produces many kinds of floors which are used in pavement; there are 10 employees working and the expectation is to achieve 20 employees in 5 years. With Piracicaba, Capivari and Jundiaí bay committee participation, it was projected and built a combination of reactor composed by a septic tank, anaerobic filter and sand filter, aiming at effluent suitability for environmental laws. System project was based on NBR 7229 (1993) and 13969 (1997) standard and in studies developed in UNICAMP which were supported by PROSAB and FAPESP (Processos 01/12765-4, 02/05253-0, 01/00807-4 and 04/14902-7). The wastewater will be originated by domestic activities, so there won't be interaction with the water originated from industrial using, and its treatment evaluation will be in two stages. In stage 1 the association of septic tank and sand filter will be studied and in stage 2 the investigation will be about combination of septic tank with anaerobic filter filled up with coco nuts shells (Cocos nucifera) and sand filter. Thus, the real necessity of anaerobic filter in this kind of association and its advantage will be evaluated, mainly about the using of coco nuts shells. About the sand filter operation and maintenance in real scale will be studied and its capacity in generate an suitable effluent to be discharged into receiving waters and to be used as reuse water. It is important to say that Tonetti (2008), who investigated this system in pilot scale, achieved a suitable effluent to be discharged into receiving waters (CONAMA 357, 2005 and CONAMA 430, 2011) or as a reuse water in crops activities, respecting CONAMA 54 (2005) and CETESB (2006) requirement. Satisfying results about effluent quality and related to operational aspects will contribute to sanitary companies and bay committee for sanitary in isolated areas or rural comunities which, nowadays, are pollution producers in sources. All the civil construction was built by the partner company and the sample analysis will be based on APHA et al. (2005) methods. (AU)
