Abstract

This study aims to assess the impact of work organization in health and welfare of workers and rubber tappers in the Chico Mendes Extractive Reserve. The study will be conducted in the municipality of Xapuri, Acre, with rubbers (n = 700) and factory workers (n = 160), which live in the reserve. In the first phase of the study the workers will fill in questionnaires about demographic data, anthropometric measurements, working conditions, morbidity and chronobiological profile (chronotype). According to the results obtained in the first phase it will be selected three groups of workers: day workers, night workers and rubber tappers, who work both day and night. In the second stage, 20 workers from each group will be monitored for 15 days to record data about the exposure to light and sleep-wake cycle. Data collection will include actigraphy, protocols of daily activities, measures of exposure to light, and salivary melatonin. The data analysis will be carried out by descriptive statistics (with position and dispersion measures) of continuous variables. The analysis of data obtained in the second stage will be performed by means comparison tests, parametric or nonparametric, according to their distribution. (AU)
