Abstract

The liposuction is a surgery that aims to perform a large lipectomy with short scars, but it is not free of complications. The main cause of death in this procedure is the pulmonary thromboembolism. The major of these deaths occurs suddenly, precluding the use of a therapy, what determines the importance of the prevention. While the use of anticoagulants is unsafe in liposuction surgery, due to the risk of uncontrollable bleeding, a new alternative is needed, like the hemodilution. So, it is necessary to determine the safe limit of the intravenous hydration that generates this hemodilution. It will be used 45 Wistar male rats, submitted to a protocol of anesthesia with cetamin and xylazin, randomized in five groups according the hydration with Ringer Lactate solution: group 0 (no hydration), group 0,5 (0.5x blood volume), group 1 (1.0x blood volume), group 1,5 (1.5x blood volume), group 2 (2.0x blood volume). The animals will be monitored in heart rate, respiratory rate, oximetry, and a blood sample will be taken to evaluate hemoglobin and gasometry. After euthanasia, the lungs will be removed to gravimetry and histopathological evaluation, to quantify the level of edema. The statistical analysis of the laboratorial exams will be performed by ANOVA, and the edema by logistic regression. The significance level will be fixed at 5%. (AU)
