Study of the modification of gas diffusion electrodes with redox catalysts for in situ electrogeneration of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)

Abstract

This project presents a new proposal for the development of catalysts nano / micro-structured to be incorporated into gas diffusion electrodes for the production of hydrogen peroxide in situ from the reduction reaction of O2. Within this scope, will be produced and evaluated metal oxide catalysts supported on carbon, using analytical techniques of structure (SEM / EDX, XRD, AFM and DSC / TGA) and electroanalytical techniques (cyclic voltammetry and linear sweep voltammetry) using rotating ring-disk electrodes (RRDE). The most efficient catalysts for the electrogeneration of H2O2 will be incorporated into gas diffusion electrodes modified to be coupled to electrochemical cells and flow-by electrochemical reactors, with monitoring the levels of hydrogen peroxide generated.
