Abstract

Osseus defects from traumas, tumor ressections or congenital malformation are usual in medical practice, and its treatment with reconstructive surgeries are common, especially in plastic surgery, that give to the patients better quality of life.To correct the osseus defects, autologous bone grafts are used, as they do not cause rejection. However, they have disadvantages like the donnor site morbidity and the high number of absorption of these grafts and the final result lost.Other reconstruction methods like alloplastic materials are used, but they have high percentage of rejection and extrusion or even infection of these materials, which need to be taken off. Flaps of bone and muscle or dermis and subcutaneous can also be an option, however, this method needs an especific trainement of the medical group, longer surgeries and, sometimes, the flap necrosis after complications. This study searches for a periosteum flap, vascularized, that can substitute the bone graft in reconstructive surgery, specially on facial defects. (AU)
