Abstract

The sleep apnea-hypopnea obstructive sleep (OSA) is a progressive disorder and that has gained great attention from healthcare attention to the many comorbidities associated with it. By presenting a multifactorial etiology, several treatments are offered, not always achieving optimum results. The aim of this study is to demonstrate a new kind of treatment of OSA, from the transverse maxillary distraction osteogenesis and I or jaw, a safe and widely used for orthodontic treatment is now applied to obstructive apnea. Compared with a control group, patients with OSAS who present transverse reduction of the dental arches are subjected to transverse maxillary distraction osteogenesis (group 1) or the maxilla and mandible (group 2). The purpose of the study is to demonstrate the effectiveness of this type of procedure in treatment of OSA and to determine patterns for indications of this treatment in patients with reduced transverse maxillary / mandibular.
