Abstract

The SPSAS Advances in Molecular Oncology: Translating Molecular Biology into Cancer Treatment aims to improve the quality of translational cancer research training, and provide opportunities for students and fellows to expand their understanding. Despite tremendous advances in the understanding of their causes, cancer related deaths now exceed those from coronary heart disease and stroke, worldwide. In light of these statistics, it is obvious the need to accelerate the application of the advances in cancer research that have happened in the last 10 years into clinical practice, patient care, and prevention strategies. The school combines plenary sessions on broad cancer themes with state-of-the-art conferences, concurrent sessions, and mini-symposia. (AU)
