Abstract

The goal of the project is to develop a consistent parametrization of the density dependence of the coupling constants of the Dirac-Hartree-Fock-Bogoliubov (DHFB) mean field. This will be done by requiring that the energies obtained from Dirac-Brueckner calculations in nuclear matter be reproduced in the DHFB approximation. We intend to use the Bonn A and B potentials in the Dirac-Brueckner calculations, since they have been successfully used before for this type of calculation. Another motive for using these interactions is that our nuclear matter DHFB code already uses them. Thus, the only modifications that will be necessary in this code will be to include the rearrangement terms that result from the density dependence of the coupling constants. Once the coupliong constants have been adjusted in nuclear matter, we intend to apply them in our finite nucleus DHFB code. This application will also require modifications to the code, since our finite nucleus DHFB code only contains the DHB rearrangement terms at the moment. (AU)
