Abstract

This "Visiting Scholar" project's application aims to bring the French Researcher Frédéric Lebaron to Universidade Federal de São Carlos. Mr. Lebaron works in the Centre Universitaire de Recherches Administratives et Politiques at Picardie (CURAPP) and is also a researcher in CNRS/FR. He is a well-known sociologist due to his works concerning Economic Sociology, Bourdieu's Sociology and Quantitative Sociology. Since he has a theoretical affinity with researchers from NESEFI (Financial and Economic Sociology Group from UFSCar), he has been cooperating with them in several scientific projects. His visit's aim is to strengthen the scientific ties between Brazil and France which will create a new research agenda based on a better understanding about quantitative techniques such as Factor Analysis and Multiple Correspondence Analysis. These techniques are inevitably used by French Scholars who follow Bourdieu's Sociology which constitutes the Field, the social position of the actors as well as their life history. Mr. Lebaron will also be interchanging his ideas with a UNICAMP's FOCUS Study Group and UFSCar- Sorocaba Campus Study Group. (AU)
