Abstract
We propose an international collaborative research visit by Prof. J. Bjorkman (Univ. of Toledo) to the University of São Paulo to strengthen and enhance the ongoing collaboration between him and Prof. Carciofi (Univ. of São Paulo). During this visit we will implement new capabilities for our 3-D NLTE Monte Carlo radiation transfer code, HDUST, that will enable us to quantitatively test 3-D theoretical models of circumstellar disks. We will perform these tests by comparing our HDUST model predictions to combined high resolution optical and IR interferometry, spectro-astrometry, spectro-polarimetry, UV/optical/IR spectroscopy, and IR photometry. The proposed code upgrades also will make HDUST applicable to a much wider class of problems, thereby making it much more useful to researchers in other areas of astrophysics. (AU)
