Abstract

This visit aims at studying new finite element methods for incompressible flows of rheologically and/or geometrically complex fluids, such as viscoelastic fluids and microfluidic membranes. Studies will deal both with the implementation/testing of software and with the theoretical analysis of the proposed schemes. The challenge is, essentially, to extend and adapt existing methodologies to the viscoelastic behavior of either the bulk fluid or of the interface considered as a bidimensional fluid evolving on a curved, time-dependent interface.
