Abstract

The number of absences from work for RSI / WMSD and other back problems are high in Brazil, causing many disorders not only for the health of affected subjects, but also for the public treasury, with the need for research on this topic. The aim of this study is to investigate aspects related to retirement of work by RSI / WMSD and other work-related back problems processes, relationships in between the conditions and organization of work of the last employment and the impact on health and daily life today. Materials and methods consist of obtaining a list with the data of medical records of individuals attended in CEREST-Santos and opened in the period of 1st of January 2010 to 31 of December 2011. The survey data will be guided by a script designed to register on paper and pen, with: gender, age, education, occupation, diagnosis, causes of the retirement, actuation time, and others that may be relevant to the study. Clinical diagnoses are going to be later grouped and categorized according to the International Classification of Diseases, ICD-10, and selected for analysis in this study the diagnosis of soft tissue disorders (M60-M79), and other Dorsopathies (M50 -M54). Data will be recorded later in the program Microsoft Excel, and then the processing will be performed by appropriate statistical system, and analyzes, with significance levels for association (p d 0.05). In the second stage will be selected subjects of both genders with diagnosis established in between the ICD-10 (M60-M79, M50-M54), and the selection criteria, residing in the city of Santos-SP and who have experienced or are retired of work. There will be a script containing questions about work, as sickness happened, how were the working conditions, the relationships with peers and superiors, how he felt at work, if felt musculoskeletal symptoms at work, and how it was dealing with the symptoms at work, whether he liked his job, and now how he feel away from work (retired), which functional difficulties are currently encountered in day-to-day, how you feel day-to-day, among others. Semi-opened interviews will occur, which will be recorded for the full transcript and thematic categorial content analyses (BARDIN, 2010). After the interviews and next to the subjects with disease among ICDs M50-M54, will be applied the instrument Oswestry Low Back Pain Disability Questionnaire (FAIRBANK e PYNSENT, 2000). (AU)
