Abstract

Obstructive diseases, as asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchiectasis, are present in approximately 50 % of patients with common variable immunodeficiency (CIVD). Alergic asthma diagnosis in patients with CVID is difficult. Objective: The objectives of this study are: 1) evaluation of pulmonary function in patients with CIVD, based on following parameters: spirometry, brochial provocation with histamine and bronchial provocation with allergen; 2) investigate asthma diagnosis in patients with CVID; 3) perform investigation on the role of IgE as a trigger of asthma in patients with CVID. Methods: This work will study sixty-two patients with CVID. Patients' clinical history will be record, and they will be submitted to prick test, total and specific serum IgE measurement, spirometry, specific (Der p) and non-specific bronchial challenge. A comparison will be performed in the bronchial challenge results of the group suggestive for allergic asthma and the patients without allergic asthma. (AU)
