Abstract
This Young Researcher Grant presents and proposes, for the first time, the implementation of a novel area of expertise to be created at the "Gleb Wataghin" Physics Institute of Unicamp. We propose to perform a detailed microscopic investigation of novel complex and advanced materials, which spam over several areas within the Condensed Matter Physics, by means of the low resolution Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) and Nuclear Quadrupolar Resonance (NQR) techniques in solids. Among the materials of interest, we can mention the superconductors (conventional and unconventional), the magnetic oxides (frustrated, spin liquid, multiferroics, etc.), the nanostructured ones (nanowires, nanoparticles, etc.), the clathrates (caged), and so on.In particular, we will start up this Proposal emphasizing the interesting issues offered by the unconventional superconductores, with special attention devoted to the heavy fermion superconductors (HFS) and the novel and yet famous Iron-pnictides - such systems with strong worldwide interest by the condensed matter scientific community nowadays. From detailed studies of the symmetry and/or the electronic and magnetic fluctuations, our attention will be focused on the microscopic details related to the nature and origin of the superconducting paring mechanism, on a possible occurrence of a quantum critical point (QCP) and effects in its neighborhood, on the non-Fermi liquid behavior (NFL), on the phase transitions (structural, superconducting and magnetic), as well as on the non-trivial relation of coexistence and/or competition between magnetism (magnetic fluctuations) and unconventional superconductivity in the phase diagrams of these complex materials.
