Abstract
The innovation in the development of different materials in our society has caused a major impact on technology. Brazil has a strong agro-industrial economy, where the improvement of composites with natural fibers or agro-industrial waste can become a significant factor for the development of the country. The present work considers the study of hybrid panels, bound with polyurethane resin based on castor oil and reinforced with vegetable fibers with considerable specific strength and the characterization of raw materials and panels using advanced techniques, in order to add value to these biomasses through the manufacture of particleboards with high added value. The physical and mechanical properties will be determined and compared, and also the durability and micro-structural characteristics of hybrid panels will be assessed, as quality requirements proposed by national and international standards and in comparison with market products. The results analysis will facilitate the identification of the main possible uses, especially in the furniture industry and civil construction. (AU)
