Abstract

The increased metabolic demand caused by physical exercises promotes important organic changes, implying in autonomic instability, and the events involved in the process of homeostasis returning are very important for health and sports sciences. Objectives: To observe the exercise recovery at high intensity using the parameters Heart Rate Variability (HRV), heart rate (HR), blood pressure (BP), respiratory rate (f) and oxygen consumption (VO2), verify association between these markers and analyze VFC sympathetic indices and plasma catecholamine's (PC) correlation. Methods: 30 volunteers will perform the exercise in two consecutive days. At the first, they will be submitted to assessment of maximal oxygen uptake (VO2max) and maximum speed (VVO2max) on a treadmill. At the second day they will run until exhaustion at the previous day's maximum speed and, immediately after the exercise, they will be positioned on supine position for 90 minutes for passive recovery. The variables HR, BP, f, VO2 and the VFC indices will be registered at pre exercise, at de first minute post exercise and at each 30 minutes of recovery. The blood samples for catecholamines analysis will be done only before the exercise and at the end of recovery period. Statistical analysis will be performed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA), complemented by Tukey test or, in case of no Gaussian behavior, by Friedman or Wilcoxon tests as indicated, besides Pearson correlations.
