Abstract
During his visit to IME-USP, which will last for 75 days starting on January 15th, 2013, Prof. Charles Tresser and I will be doing research in several different fronts, namely: (i) Non-locality in Quantum Mechanics and the Bell inequalities (work in progress). (ii) The persistence problem of Sloane: application of circle map dynamics to a problem in Number Theory which is still open after 40 years (work in progress). (iii) Period-doubling and universality: expository article for Scholarpedia (work in progress). (iv) Smooth realizations (of class C^r) of infinitely renormalizable dynamical systems in low dimensions. (v) Convex dynamics in dimensions 2 and 3. In addition, Prof. Tresser will teach the following mini-courses at IME-USP: (I) Mathematics of convex dynamics and applications; (II) Fractalsas a category-dependent concept with a view on applications; (III) Some problems from the classical tradition of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics.
