Abstract

The visit of professor Jens Høyrup will be held by the School of Arts, Sciences and Humanities (EACH-USP) and it will last one month, from June 7 to July 7, 2013. The visit is a result of previous arrangements between the visitor and Prof. Dr. Carlos H. B. Gonçalves, faculty member of EACH-USP and member of the Laboratory of the Ancient Near East of the University of São Paulo (LAOP-USP). During this period, professor Jens Høyrup will take part in the activities of the research projects in the fields of history of science and history of Ancient Mesopotamia maintained by EACH-USP and LAOP-USP. His large experience includes subjects from Ancient Mesopotamia and the Late Middle Ages and Renaissance, as well as general questions involving culture and science/knowledge. By this reason, he will be able to interact with a very diversified investigation range in the two institutional contexts mentioned above. It is important to notice that EACH-USP has an active set of research projects with an interest in the relations between culture and science, especially those being carried out in the post-graduation programme of Cultural Studies.
