Abstract

Objective: The aim of this study will be to investigate in vivo the VEGF and FGF2 (angiogenic fators) in bone tissue from the midpalatal suture upon treatment with LLLT after rapid maxillary expansion (RME). Material and Methods: A total of 55 rats will be divided into 3 groups: Control (5 rats - intact suture), Experimental I (25 rats with RME without LLLT) and Experimental II (25 rats with RME + low level laser therapy). The rats will be euthanized at 1, 2, 3, 5 e 7 days after RME, when the bone tissue derived from the rats' midpalatine suture will be explanted and will kept at -80oC for posterior analysis of the RNAm expression of VEGF and FGF2 using the RT-PCR and Western blotting. The results will be submitted to statistical analysis using ANOVA ant Turkey test. at p<0.05.
