Abstract

This is a proposal for a workshop which aims to initiate new research collaborations in integrated water management in urban environments. In order to adequately manage water quality in urban environments, each compartment of the hydrological system must be understood, but more than that, it is crucial to understand the interactions between surface water, groundwater and the ecosystem. The workshop will bring together Brazilian and UK researchers and practitioners from different disciplinary strengths and with experience in different urban water quality problems, working together to develop an integrated research agenda as well as specific research proposals to grow the scientific underpinning of sustainable urban water quality management in Sao Paulo State, a focus of the workshop, and wider.
