Abstract

The evolution and provenance of the crustal materials formed at the southwestern edge of Gondwana is the main purpose of this Project. The role of crustal recycling during the Ordovician magmatism of the Famatinian Orogen and also the geodynamic model for the magmatism of the Middle-Upper Devonian to Mississippian in Pampean Orogen are the main targets. The Paleozoic magmatic rocks from Cordilheira Frontal (Carboniferous granites) to the Sierras Pampeanas, between the parallels 27ºS and 33ºS, will be systematically sampled along a E-W geological transects. The petrogenesis of these magmatic rocks will be achieved combining Hf and U-Pb ages in zircon with whole rock Sm-Nd and Pb-Pb data. (AU)
