Abstract

This project will be divided into four experiments. In the study I will be assessed the effects of heat stress on follicular development during the first two follicular waves in Holstein cows and the expression of fibroblast growth factors (FGFs) associated with survival (dominance - FGFs 1 e 2) and follicular regression (atresia - FGFs 16, 17, 18 e 20) during these waves, in study II will be investigated the role of LH in the recovery of P4 luteal secretion capacity after the onset of luteolysis with cloprostenol in D6 of the estrous cycle. In the Study III will be studied the sensitivity of the CL during its early development (D7) and maturity (D12) to the action of sub-doses of cloprostenol and in the study IV will be monitored the effect of heat stress on intraluteal gene expression during cloprostenol-induced luteolysis in Holstein cows. In all studies the animals are subjected to estrus synchronization and later accompanied by transrectal ultrasonography, hormonal assays and gene expression investigation of factors related to follicular development and luteolysis.
