Abstract

ITA, as an institution strongly dedicated to research, needs for its activities, an infrastructure support that allows communication from basic research activities such as access of specialized scientific publications, to activities of higher bandwidth such as video-conferencing and e-Iearning. Under the present infrastructure conditions, the access to the backbone of ANSP shows a low performance, due to the sharing with several organizations. Several monitoring results have pointed out the low access performance as the main bottleneck that degrade the connection of ITA with other research Institutes. Furthermore considering that there is an ongoing Institutional Development Plan which aims to double the institution size, a project to increase the bandwidth of the access to ANSP is fundamental. The proposed project implement the connectivity of ITA to ANSP via installation of optical fiber to the Point of Presence located at INPE and also the installation of network security equipment to protect the Data Communication Network of ITA (RCD-ITA).
