Abstract
During his stay at the Institute of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of São Paulo (ICMC/USP) Prof. José Fernando Oliveira of the Faculty of Engineering, University of Porto - Portugal (FEUP) will participate both in research and teaching. His stay at the ICMC aims an effective cooperation in two projects that will start in March 2013 (a post-doc project and a doctorate project) and in other on-going research projects. In addition to these research activities, Prof. José Fernando Oliveira will give a couple of talks on challenges and difficulties in running projects with companies, when applying operations research to real-world problems (USP/UFSCAR). There is also the possibility of giving a talk at UNESP/Bauru. Two additional activities are scheduled: a) give one class in the course "SME 5901 - Linear Optimization I", aimed for doctoral students of the ICMC and of universities nearby; b) participate in the seminars of the Optimization Group, where she will interact directly with students of the group. We believe that this visit will be extremely productive not only through the above-mentioned research, but also because of the interactions of Prof. José Fernando Oliveira during a few weeks with the students and teachers of the Optimization Group of ICMC, of UFSCAR and of UNESP/Bauru.
