Abstract

We are asking for financial resources for a one year visit of Dr. Wilton S. Dias, professor at the Federal University of Itajubá, MG, for scientific collaboration with Dr. Jacques Lépine and his group of PhD students in IAG-USP. The focus of research is on open star clusters, which constitute a tool for the study of the spiral structure of the Galaxy. Several activities are intended to improve and complete the database that the researchers maintain the network, which already has more than 330 citations in articles that made use of it. Other activities are planned using the database for the development of theoretical models on the nature and location of the spiral arms. (AU)
