Abstract

This project is concerned with active control of noise in structural-acoustic coupled systems such as the interior of vehicles including cars and airplanes. The target noise for control is low frequency noise below 500 Hz. The control methods considered will be feedback control methods that are easily implementable. In particular, the state-of-the-art electrical dynamic absorber technology, originally developed for vibration control of structures, will be further developed to build a generic control theory for sound and vibration in structural acoustic coupled as well as uncoupled systems. Based on the theory developed, a real time controller will be implemented, capable of reducing phase distortion or delayed signals at collocated and non-collocated remote sensors from the actuators.
