Abstract
Dr. John Pitt is an authority on Fungi and Mycotoxins in foods. The objectives of this visit are: i) to take part in the project on "Biodiversity of toxigenic Aspergillus species in Brazil: ocurrence, poliphasic taxonomy and distribution"; (ii) to identify Aspergillus species isolated from several foods and to establish a phylogenetic relationship among the isolates; (iii) to collect samples of food, meeting with public and private sector. Besides that the Course on Fungi and mycotoxins will be offered at ITAL and will propiciate a training in this area for the participants of research institutes, universities, food industry, students and others promoting a multiplying effect of knowledge on fungi and mycotoxins in foods.
