Abstract

One challenge that still exists for the thoracic surgeon is to avoid air leak after pulmonary resection. The fibrin glue has been shown to be effective in sealing sutures of the pulmonary parenchyma and bronchial anastomoses but is associated with persistent inflammatory reactions and even massive pulmonary fibrosis. The cyanoacrylate adhesive polymerization acts by contact with body proteins, which act as catalysts. This is not dependent on the coagulation status of the patient and can also be used in cases where there coagulopathy. Twenty-four rabbits will be divided into four groups, all being anesthetized, underwent cannulation intubation, mechanical ventilation and left thoracotomy. The following will be asked two pulmonary lesions, one in the upper lobe and lower lobe another. From there, will be conducted and exposed to four different treatment protocols are: Group I: 6 animals that did not receive any intervention for treating lesions, Group II - 6 will receive animals with polypropylene sutures six zeros, Group III - 6 animals that receive only adhesive application CA for treatment of injuries; Gupo IV-six animals which receive only application of fibrin glue for the treatment of lesions. Still open chest will be watching for evaluating the effectiveness of air sealing in Cyanoacrylate. In the postoperative period will be made dosages of interleukin 1², interleukin 8, Vascular Endothelial Tissue Factor and Growing Growing Factor ²1 in order to study the impact of using inflammatory CA. Subsequently, the animals will be sacrificed for observation of local reactions (macroscopic and microscopic). Statistical methods are applied to obtain the results. (AU)
